Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager is responsible for promoting Natrona County to domestic and internationally receptive tour operators, meeting planners, and event promoters. This includes generating definite room night bookings, tracking clients, organizing Visit Casper’s presence at trade shows, client events, sales missions, and hosting site and familiarization tours. Reporting to the CEO, the Business Development Manager works with industry partners, leaders, and stakeholders to generate new conventions, group tours, and event business for the Casper Area.

1. Ensures effective control of sales results; takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of sales objectives falls within designated budgets.
2. Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts sales strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
3. Monitors competitor products, sales, and marketing activities.
4. Establishes and maintains relationships with industry partners on a local and national level.
5. Guides preparation of sales analytical reports.
6. Identifying and securing meetings, groups, and event business for the area.
7. Willingness to employ phone based cold calling, direct sales, and other tactics to generate leads across multiple segments.
8. Performing convention and trades show solicitation regionally with the ability to close and book business from within Wyoming and the surrounding region.
9. Utilizing Visit Casper’s CRM to track all prospecting and sales activity by account.
10. Working with administrative staff, managing all arrangements for hosted site and familiarization tours.
11. Creating strategic direction and organization of the sales division.
12. Acting as an authority in all matters relating to long-range and short-term sales strategies that maximize the availability of local venues.
13. Initiating and developing promotional and sales plans with staff to drive lead generation and awareness for Casper as a meeting and event destination.
14. Assists other departments within the organization when needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will work closely with the CEO, sales/business development team, and marketing team. They would not have any supervisory responsibilities to start.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to the nature and level of this position, hours outside of office hours are expected.

Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel will be expected.

Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 1-3 years of experience in the Travel and Tourism Industry.
