Fremont Canyon
Meet Wyoming’s Hidden Gem, Fremont Canyon
One of Wyoming’s best-kept secrets, Fremont Canyon is a must see.
Sitting about 4 miles southwest of Pathfinder Dam, Fremont Canyon has beautiful rock walls that rise high on either side of the river, making it a prime location for casting a fishing line from the shore.
Plus, as you fish the North Platte River at Fremont Canyon (referred to as the meadow), you’ll be rewarded with stunning geological views of the Goose Egg Formation and its surrounding sandstone and limestone topography.
In addition to the fishing, Fremont Canyon is one of the most beautiful places to kayak, canoe or boat with water access from Alcova Reservoir. You can rent your equipment from the Alcova Resort, and if you decide to go on paddle boards or kayaks, they'll take you into the canyon on boat, allowing you to paddle back out through the towering red rock canyon walls. Additional attractions include high-quality rock climbing, sightseeing, and hiking.
Waterways

The world-famous Miracle Mile is actually a 5.5-mile stretch of the North Platte River.

If size matters, head 25 miles southwest of Casper to the Grey Reef section of the North Platte River.
