Experience Wyoming's Winter Wonderland
Plan Your Winter Vacation to Casper
Whether you’re interested in playing in Casper’s real-life snow globe or cozying up in one of our eight local breweries, there are lots of ways to experience winter in Wyoming. Anchoring the winter scene is Casper Mountain.
A short, gorgeous drive from downtown, Casper Mountain is one of the most picturesque winter destinations in the region. And while it’s well worth the drive alone just for the scenery, there’s also plenty of ways to play in the snow, including skiing and snowboarding at Hogadon Basin Ski Area which usually opens in early December, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at Casper Mountain Trails Center, hiking the Bridle Trail, visiting the frozen Garden Creek Falls at Rotary Park, or snowmobiling.
You also won't miss out on time spent with our trophy-trout as you can still fish the North Platte River or ice fish at Pathfinder reservoir all through winter in Wyoming.
Other can't-miss spots to visit during winter in Casper include Independence Rock, David Street Station where you'll enjoy ice-skating around our 20-foot tall Christmas tree, and downtown Casper where you can shop our local storefronts.
If outdoor recreation isn’t your winter activity of choice, there’s still plenty to see and do in Casper during the winter, with highlights that include Nicolaysen Art Museum and enjoying a night cap at the famous Backwards Distilling Company.
