Join us on Saturday, June 27, 11:00 a.m., at the Fort Caspar Museum to welcome Donovin Sprague back for his presentation, “The Powder River Expedition into Lakota Cheyenne Country in Eastern Wyoming”. Donovin will introduce the audience to an overview of the 1865 Powder River Expedition highlighting maps of the travel routes and archaeological data, especially through Eastern Wyoming. The Lakota Cheyenne history will be shared as they met the expedition at various sites along the way, especially along the Tongue and Powder Rivers. An overview of specific 1865 events such as The Battle of Platte Bridge and Red Buttes will be examined for linked impacts.
From the family of Hump and Crazy Horse, Donovin is a member of the faculty department at Sheridan College in art, history, and political sciences where he has authored 10 books on American Indian history and historic photographs.
