It's no secret that fall in Casper, Wyoming, is one of our favorite times of year. These are the days we dream about, with comfortable daytime temps, crisp evenings and a cool breeze that blows through the region. Plus, the trees are changing colors, with our signature shades of golds, yellows and oranges adorning the landscapes.

Combine all that with fall activities, kid-friendly adventures and more space to breathe and you've got yourself a perfect Wyoming fall getaway.

To help plan your fall trip to Casper, we crafted a 48-hour itinerary for making the most of your time in the heart of Wyoming.

Day 1

Breakfast: The Copper Cup. It combines a cool vibe with delicious coffee and tasty waffles. We recommend the banana foster latte (trust us), s'more latte or the almond waffle.

Morning Activity: Get lost at the Green Acres Corn Maze. You could spend as little or as much time here as you'd like. Highlights include a corn maze, corn pit, apple cannons, a petting zoo, pig races, bounce houses and gem mining, making it a great fun fall activity for kids of all ages.

*Note: they are open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Lunch: Chow down at HQ BBQ; be sure to order their macaroni and cheese.

Afternoon Activity: Shop Downtown Casper.

While we could give you a list of places to check out, the best way to soak up this core neighborhood is to simply stroll the streets and avenues. Pop into local shops (like Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters), check out flies at Ugly Bug Fly Shop, peruse Floral Rhino, grab a new book at Wind City Books and snag a sweet treat from Donnell's Candies.

Dinner: FireRock Steakhouse. A locally owned restaurant, they have a large menu and serve up tasty cuts of beef, bison and yak.

Evening Activity:  Ghost tour at Fort Caspar

If the ghost tour is a “can’t-miss” event for your Wyoming itinerary, you’ll want to plan your visit for one of these two weekends in October: October 17-18 and October 24-25.

Day 2

Breakfast: Blue Bird Café at the Historic Cheese Barrel, Eggington's or The Wooden Derrick Cafe.

Morning Activity: For a slower morning, plan to soak up Casper's outdoors with a walk to Garden Creek Falls, a hike on the Bridle Trail on Casper Mountain or a stroll along the Platte River Trail. Another option: get out on the North Platter River and book a guided fly-fishing trip with one of our local outfitters and guides

Lunch: Fuel up with a burger or sandwich at The Branding Iron. Try the Casper burger, Kona burger or Denver burger.

Afternoon Activity: Visit one of our local museums, like the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center, the Nicolaysen Art Museum, Tate Geological Museum, Warner Wildlife Museum and the Historic Bishop House.

*Note: the museum hours vary; be sure to confirm dates and times before planning your visit, especially on a weekend.

Looking for another option? Check out the Casper Tipsy Turkey Trail, our local ale trail. Be sure to sign up for the trail pass to start sipping on the many flavors of Wyoming. No matter your flavor preference, we're sure you'll find something tasty at each of our breweries.

Dinner: Hokkaido Ramen House or Thai Kitchen Restaurant.
