7 Cozy Foods to Enjoy Around Casper this Fall
Fall in Wyoming brings cooler days, crisp nights and a variety of autumn colors to our mountains, river trails, neighborhoods and more.
It’s also the time of year when we start to cozy up and settle in here in central Wyoming.
If you ask us, there’s no better way to do that than by visiting our local culinary hotspots. From tastings at fall restaurants in Casper, Wyoming, to where to find the best soup in Casper, we have you covered.
Here are seven cozy foods that can be found at local candy stores, coffee shops and restaurants to help you soak up the many flavors of fall.
1. Eggs Benedict Options from Eggington’s
A well-known staple in downtown Casper, Eggington’s is a well-known staple for breakfast, brunch or lunch. As this place is hopping, there may be a slight wait for breakfast, especially on the weekends, but believe us when we tell you it’s well worth the wait. When you visit, be sure to try one of their four different options of eggs benedict. One we love for fall: the florentine benedict. It's served with fresh spinach, sliced tomato, applewood smoked bacon and two poached eggs. Be sure to order the cheese hash browns, too.
2. Burger at the Branding Iron
If you love a delicious grilled burger, your favorite meal can be found at the Branding Iron in downtown Casper. Here you’ll find 15 different burger choices, all with their own creative take. A few that are perfect for fall are Casper, Omaha, Denver and Philadelphia. If you’re not into beef, you can also substitute it for veggies, chicken or bison. Looking for a cozy appetizer? Try the pork belly mac and cheese.
3. Waffles + Coffee at Copper Cup Coffee Co.
There's no better place to start a fall weekend in Wyoming than at a local coffee shop. Try Copper Cup Coffee Co. for an array of coffee drinks and fresh-made waffles, crepes and sandwiches. There are lots of waffle options that capture the flavors of fall, including the spiced pear waffle and cookie butter waffle. Find the perfect pairing with the honey black pepper latte, cinnamon streusel breve or the toasty pumpkin latte.
4. Macarons at Frosted Tops
While there are plenty of places to grab a sweet treat, Frosted Tops has cinnamon rolls, hot chocolate bombs and tasty macarons. They have a variety of flavors - a few we love for fall: cocoa, gingerbread, cinnamon, spice and pumpkin spice. Want another sweet treat? Swing into Donnells Candies and get a caramel apple, pistachio pub brittle (made with double clutch oatmeal stout from Gruner Brothers Brewing). Learn more here.
5. Soup + Sandwich at Cottage Café
When visiting Casper, eating lunch at the Cottage Café is a must! (Trust us on this.) They have delicious sandwiches - made on homemade bread - served alongside salads and soups that keep you cozy during autumn. One thing to keep in mind: the Cottage Café is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., so plan your lunch accordingly.
6. Appetizers at Wyoming Rib & Chop House
Located in downtown, Casper’s Rib and Chop House has a selection of tasty appetizers that help capture the warm feelings of fall. Skip dinner and order some apps - we recommend the fried green tomatoes, hot honey goat cheese and crabmeat-stuffed mushrooms.
7. French Onion or Baked Potato Soup at FireRock Steakhouse
Located on the east end of town, FireRock Steakhouse is one of the best spots to kick back and enjoy a night with mouth-watering dining. If you’re a soup lover, FireRock has two fabulous regular soup choices: baked potato and French onion soup au gratin. They also have a slew of other specialty soups and dishes, and you can’t go wrong with any of their menu offerings. Want something heartier? Try the Wyoming Whiskey burger, topped off with a Wyoming Whiskey glaze.
