Jesse Owens - Casper's the Place to Be
Q: First, tell us a little about yourself! Where are you from, how did you get your start in music, and what does your musical journey look like today? Is this just a hobby? Do you play professionally? If so, where at?
A: We are The Wyoming Wayfinders, a Folk/Americana band out of Casper, WY. Jeramy Adamson (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, manager) was born in Casper. His wife Andrea Adamson (bass guitar, vocals on other songs) was born in Idaho, but has lived in Casper most of her life, Diane Lynne Frame (fiddle, also does vocals & guitar on other songs), was born in California, but has lived in Casper for 25 year, and Chase Hull (drums) was born in Casper as well! Jeramy & Andrea have been professional musicians starting 10 years ago with their other band, Mastermind of Monkey. Diane Lynn Frame has been a professional musician for several years and has been classically trained at Cal Polly Ponomo University, and has been the musical director at Casper College & Casper Children's Theatre. Chase Hull was in the drum line at the University of Wyoming, and joined The Wyoming Wayfinders in November of 2024. He also recently joined Jeramy & Andrea's other band, Mastermind of Monkey in November of 2025 as their drummer as well! Mastermind of Monkey stars Jeramy & Andrea's son/lead guitarist, Tristan Adamson, who is featured on The Wyoming Wayfinders "Open Roads" on banjo, and co-wrote the song with Jeramy! The Wyoming Wayfinders perform across Wyoming professionally. They've performed at: David Street Station Celtic Festival, Funky Junk Festival, NIC Festival, Ten Sleep Brewery, Lander Bar, Thermopolis Beer Festival, Art in the Park, Gillette Tuesdays in the Garden, Mills Festival, Alvoca Resort, College Inn Bar, Black Tooth Brewery, Oil City Beer Company, Gruner Brothers Brewery, Bull Horn Brewery, R3 Soundstage, Crooked Creek Guest Ranch, Frostys. Music has always been a part of our lives, and we all got into music starting in school.
Q: What's your connection to Casper, Wyoming? Are you a local or a previous visitor? Tell us a little about your relationship with the community and what makes this place special to you.
A: We're all residents of Casper, and love being a part of a caring, hard working community! We love that Casper is a place where people hold the door open for you, say thank you, is a safe place to raise a family, and is there when people are in need! We love our musician community here as well! It'd be hard to find the diverse, and musical talent in most other communities that Casper has, and we all support each other! We love that Casper loves community events, and we're honored to be a part of any of them!
Q: What inspired your Casper Anthem submission? What stories, places, people, experiences, or personal memories helped shape the song? Was there a particular moment or aspect of Casper that sparked the idea?
A: Jeramy wrote the lyrics, and music for this song. His son Tristan Adamson helped him with the melody, and shaping up the music. Jeramy wanted to write a love letter to Wyoming road trips, inspired by Wyoming's beautiful landscapes by the Teton mountains, Casper Mountain, Bear Trap Meadows, Platte River, and Yellowstone National Park. It's a road trip with your loved one song. Jeramy makes road trip playlists for the band's road trip shows, and he wanted a song that folks would enjoy adding to their road trip playlist, and so that they could picture Wyoming's beauty while listening to it.
Q: Take us behind the music. What did your creative process look like from writing the lyrics to creating the sound? How did you approach writing and producing it? Were there any particular musical influences, sounds, lyrics, or creative decisions that helped capture the feeling and personality of Casper?
A: Jeramy & Tristan have been fans of, and recently went to an Irish Folk band named Amble when they played at The Gaslight Social here in Casper, and have been inspired by them, Kingfishr. So the melody has Irish melody inspiration in it. There's also a Led Zeppelin-esque break down in the bridge just to mix things up a little. Jeramy recorded, mixed, and mastered the song. Tristan helped record when Jeramy was recording his vocal track. Jeramy was influenced by Lord Huron, Noah Kahan, Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Caamp, for the sound of The Wyoming Wayfinders, and is influenced by producers such as Brian Wilson, George Martin, & Rick Rubin for their recording sound. He wanted a clear, but warm and lively sound to the track to help drive the song. This song is a single off our upcoming album, and The Wyoming Wayfinders will debut their first album on streaming services Nov 13th, and will celebrate it with an album release show at Oil City Beer Company Nov 14th with local duo Sparrow Bones opening the show at 7pm!
Q: When someone hears your song, what do you hope they take away from it? What do you hope a listener who has never visited Casper learns, feels, or experiences through your music? And for those who already know and love Casper, what do you hope the song reminds them of?
A: We hope that this song inspires folks to want to take a road trip to Wyoming, and to Casper to see in person its natural beauty, and the many great things our community offers! We hope local residents can close their eyes and picture the places in the song, and that they connect with the song on an emotional level. Or just drive there :)
