Diane Frame - Welcome to Casper
Q: First, tell us a little about yourself! Where are you from, how did you get your start in music, and what does your musical journey look like today? Is this just a hobby? Do you play professionally? If so, where at?
A: My name is Cassandra Rose, born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. Stage performances began for me during elementary school and continued while singing in Casper Children’s Chorale. Music took the back burner in my life until the last few years. I learned how to play the guitar and ukulele, which led to several LIVE performances in a span of 2 years. My shows vary from place to place: nursing homes, Summer markets, bars, funerals, music festivals, songwriting competitions, fundraisers, etc.
Q: What's your connection to Casper, Wyoming? Are you a local or a previous visitor? Tell us a little about your relationship with the community and what makes this place special to you.
A: Casper is home and forever holds my heart. I appreciate the love of our community and the blessings of the great outdoors.
Q: What inspired your Casper Anthem submission? What stories, places, people, experiences, or personal memories helped shape the song? Was there a particular moment or aspect of Casper that sparked the idea?
A: My youngest daughter (10 years old) inspired me to write a song about Casper. Her love and motivation to sing made it undeniable to include her voice. The song takes you on a venture to experience Casper as much as possible in one song.
Q: Take us behind the music. What did your creative process look like from writing the lyrics to creating the sound? How did you approach writing and producing it? Were there any particular musical influences, sounds, lyrics, or creative decisions that helped capture the feeling and personality of Casper?
A: The first part included in the song was the guitar rhythm and it gave an inviting vibe. I broke down my ideas for the song in an outline to help arrange the order. My daughter joined me while singing each chorus. Last minute I included a native drum to make it feel raw and natural to the listeners.
Q: When someone hears your song, what do you hope they take away from it? What do you hope a listener who has never visited Casper learns, feels, or experiences through your music? And for those who already know and love Casper, what do you hope the song reminds them of?
A: I hope my song invites a stranger to make a friend in Casper and feel welcome to visit or move. For the folks who know Casper, I think they’ll enjoy the visual journey of the lyrics and maybe a few laughs along the way.
