The fabulous days of summer are far from over here in the 5150' but school will be back in session soon!
The end of summer is always a bittersweet reminder of how quickly time can pass us by. While students look forward to more time spent with friends and reconnecting with their favorite teachers, parents may be looking forward to a little more peace and quiet during the day. Not ready to say farewell to summer adventures just yet?! Here are 5 fun ways to send off summer in the 5150'!
Toast to Summer with a S'more's Milkshake at the Rialto Soda Fountain
Have you ever seen a roasted marshmallow topping on a milkshake? Here is your chance! The Rialto Soda Fountain has some of the most delicious and unique milkshake flavors in town. Whether the s'mores milkshake is right up your alley or if you would prefer a more traditional flavor combo, you'll find the perfect sweet treat to enjoy together in the heart of downtown. Plus, it's just fun to look around the historic soda shop and imagine what Casper may have been like over 100 years ago when the Rialto Theater first opened.
Kayak, Paddle, or Tube your way down the North Platte River
We can't think of a more perfect way to spend a warm August day than lazily floating along down the river. Keep in mind proper river etiquette and safety before you enjoy this adventure. Prepare for the weather to change rapidly as we know it can here in the 5150' and always remember to bring a life jacket! This year the river has remained unusually high, so know before you go, and be aware that certain runs you've done in the past may be much swifter flowing in places than you are used to. Don't have your own boat or paddleboard? Gordon's Rents is a great place to stop in locally and find exactly what you need for a great day on the water!
Treat Yourself at Soda Springs
Cool off with a lemonade, a soda, or even an energy drink at Soda Springs. My personal favorite is the Marshalade, their fun twist on a sparkling raspberry lemonade! With their wide variety of flavor combinations, we know you'll find something for even your pickiest palates.

Get your bingo or fill your whole summer downtown bingo card to be entered to win great prizes Labor Day weekend! It's FREE to participate, just pick up your bingo sheet at the Visit Casper office downtown or ask downtown businesses how you can get in on the fun. It's the 8th Annual 5150' Festival this year at David Street Station. Enjoy live music, food trucks, drinks, games, and local vendors. Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 17, 2024!
