About Us

Our History

Sometime in the late 1800’s, this house, that is now Cedar Street Bed and Breakfast, was built on a hill at the base of Casper Mountain, just 1.2 mi. driving distance to the center of what we now know as the City of Casper, Wyoming.

In those days, the Carey Brothers of CY Ranch owned the land, and this house is believed to have been the only structure in the area built and used by the ranch hands. Because of the central location in the State, with the South Pass and the North Platte River running through it, Casper became the ideal place to start a town due to the many travelers. In 1889, when Casper was incorporated, the town consisted of a dirt street and a few wood-framed buildings such as a dry goods store, a hotel, a few bars, and brothels, lots of brothels.

Casper’s colorful history includes the “Sand Bar District,” where the many brothels were
located. In the stories of Old Casper, there are mentions of the ‘Soiled Doves,’ prostitutes who would seek solace and peace away from their chaotic lifestyles at ‘unidentified residential homes’ outlying the town. Cedar Street Bed and Breakfast could have been one such residence.

We hope you find rest from your travels at our unique Bed and Breakfast, filled with
history and stories of the Old West.

Etta’s Room

Named after Etta Place, rumored companion of Sundance Kid who ran with Butch Cassidy. This room echoes with tales of the Wild West’s outlaws and visitors like Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.

Jane’s Room

Inspired by Calamity Jane, known for her adventures with Wild Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill Cody. Experience the spirit of the frontier in this room adorned with nods to other ‘Soiled Doves’ of the era.

Bill’s Room

A tribute to legends like Buffalo Bill Cody and Wild Bill Hickok. This room evokes the journeys of iconic figures through Casper, including a possible visit from Billy the Kid.

Sweetest place to stay on my overnight to Casper. Left me awash in the history and mystique of the old west. Was greeted so warmly out front and enjoyed my morning breakfast and stroll. Left me with a lovely memory to cherish 😊

What a beautiful home! Our stay was comfortable, peaceful, cozy to the point of perfection. Mary was so welcoming giving me full range of the house and yard where Elvis (the dog) was free to roam. Breakfast was complete and I even took a snack for the road. I hope to have the opportunity to return and stay a little longer. Thank you

Ron and I had a very nice time at Mary’s BnB in Casper. There are nice restaurants convenient from Mary’s BnB, and the neighborhood was quiet and safe. We had complete use of the house, and Mary had DVDs for me while Ron rode his bicycle. Mary is a great cook and great conversationalist particularly about the history of Casper. This is a very nice place to stay, and Casper has interesting sites to see. Linda B
