Casper, Wyoming Welcomes New Offerings and Events in 2022

Beer, Beards and Big Anniversaries

Tuesday, January 11, 2022—Casper, Wyoming—With its location in the heart of Wyoming, Casper is welcoming new offerings, anniversaries, events and more for 2022, as well as celebrating several significant anniversaries.

“2022 is a big year for Casper and Wyoming,” said Amanda Scherlin, Director of Marketing for Visit Casper. “From big anniversaries to new events and businesses, there’s a lot happening, and we can’t wait to welcome travelers to our destination.”

Notable anniversaries in 2022 include the 40th anniversary of the Ford Wyoming Center (the largest event center in Wyoming), the 20th anniversary of the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center and the 20th anniversary of Mike Lansing Field. 2022 is also the 150th anniversary of Yellowstone National Park, and Casper sits on The Road to Yellowstone and is a popular stopping point for visitors road tripping to the world’s first national park.

In addition to anniversaries, Casper has a variety of new and remarkable offerings for 2022, including:

  • Western artists on display: The Nicolaysen Art Museum is hosting a new exhibit – Creating the West – that will feature western pieces from the museum’s permanent collection. Held from January 14 – April 16, 2022, the exhibit features the work of Charles M. Russell, Frederic Remington, Thomas Moran, Joseph Henry Sharp, Edward Borein, William Gollings, Conrad Schwiering, James Bama and Albert Bierstadt.
  • Sunburst Lodge becomes West Fork Lodge. Formerly a bed-and-breakfast on Casper Mountain, the Sunburst Lodge is under new ownership and is now the West Fork Lodge. Set on 135 acres overlooking Casper, the lodge can sleep 15 people and is ideal for corporate events and destination weddings.
  • New brewery opens in historic Nolan building. Sheridan-based Black Tooth Brewing Company opened its third location in Wyoming in the newly remodeled Nolan building – which is a mix of residential, community and commercial spaces – in the Old Yellowstone District in downtown Casper. It’s the sixth brewery in Casper and has started making local craft beers in a five-barrel system.
  • Backwards Distilling Company unveils Wyoming’s first absinthe. A family-owned company, Backwards Distilling Company is launching the state’s first absinthe – named absinthe verte – in mid-January as part of their experimental collection. In addition to the new absinthe, new legislation was recently passed in Wyoming that allows distilleries to have two tasting rooms. As a result, Backwards has reopened their tasting room in nearby Mills, with special events and cocktail parties planned for 2022.
  • Night skiing at Hogadon Ski Area. New lights were just added to Hogadon Basin Ski Area and night skiing and snowboarding are now available on Friday and Saturday nights. Hogadon has 28 trails that overlook Casper and Wyoming’s plains below.
  • Live music and moustaches come to Casper. After being cancelled in 2021, Wyoming native and up-and-coming country music star Ian Munsick is set to play a free concert at David Street Station on August 20, 2022. Meanwhile, Casper and the Ford Wyoming Center will welcome the National Beard & Moustache Championships in November 2022.
  • 2022 Casper guide released. Visit Casper just published the 2022 travel guide, including travel tips for visiting Yellowstone National Park and exploring the area’s wide-open spaces.
