Great Meetings Are in Our Nature
Have you ever noticed that a mountain range shares its silhouette with a lifeline? It’s a wonderful coincidence. There’s something cathartic about the mountains… something vitalizing about nature. Among the Wyoming mountain range, vast open space and breathtaking waters is a destination that can breathe life into the traditional meeting experience.
For your group of nature lovers, aquaphiles, hunters and those who are feral at heart: they all want to meet in a destination that engages the senses. For those who get exhilarated by the tug of a line or the sight of their prey in scope, Casper has an outdoor playground just for them.
Self-Explore on the Water
Some attendees like a little unaccompanied exploration. They can go for a quiet float (or wade) while they drop a hook in the North Platte River. With a ton of access points throughout town, it’s convenient to rip lips at hot spots like Miracle Mile, Alcova Reservoir or Grey Reef, or even on the North Platte water that flows through town. The primary trout species that can be found are rainbow, brown and often times, cutthroat.
Tip: If attendees want to plan an extend stay, they can hire a guide for the first day, to help them get familiarized with North Platte, and then rent a drift boat the next day to explore on their own.
Plan a Guided Fly Fishing Trip
One of the best options for a group adventure is to plan a guided fly fishing trip with one of Casper’s guides and outfitters. Whether your attendees are veteran fly fisherman or have never held a rod, they’ll be in the presence of knowledgeable guides and trophy fish waters. Book a float trip, wade fishing trip, trophy fishing trip and more.
Tip: A lot of the charters offer winter rates that are a nice chunk off of the peak season rates. If you’re planning a winter retreat in Casper, try to get out on the water.
Get in on Open Season
Casper is hunting country and the ideal place to bring your association. In addition to the large pronghorn population (the fastest mammal in North America), elk, deer, duck, geese, pheasant and dove are all bountiful, making it one of the top places in the country for game hunting.
Tip: Plan for an extended stay and hunt after the conference. Just be sure to read over the area hunting rules at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department before you begin.
Get Out on the Greens
Get in an early round before the meeting or event begins. Home to three public courses just north of Casper Mountain, the golfers in your group can take in the amazing Wyoming backdrop as they put along the greens. Three Crowns Golf Club is a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed, par-72 course. Casper Municipal Golf Course is a 27-hole course with the original layout designed by Robert Muir Graves. For the unconventional, Salt Creek Country Club is a unique nine-hole course with prairie grass fairways and sand greens.
Tip: Plan according to the season. Typically, courses are open from around April through mid-October, depending on the weather.
Bike or Hike Casper Mountain
Take Casper’s trails less traveled and foster teamwork along the way. Journey through Casper Mountain with a bike ride. Ride along the beginner trails of Muddy Mountain and Eadsville, or through the more advanced terrains of the Bridle Trail. Blaze rugged landscapes or walk manicured paths along Casper’s urban and mountain trails.
Tip: If planning a group bike ride: decide what scenery you’ll want to see along the ride; determine average miles you will cover that day and the level of difficulty; make sure the local bike shops provide the appropriate bikes for the terrain you’ll be covering.
