Located in the center of Wyoming, Casper is the ultimate destination for Western adventure. Travelers looking to incorporate authentic experiences into their trip to Wyoming will find plenty of options to choose from.

Day One
To get an overview of the city, make the first stop on your trip the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center. Overlooking the city, the Trails Center (as it’s commonly called) provides an expansive view of Casper and nearby Casper Mountain, as well as onsite visitor center. While you’re here, take a self-guided (and free) tour of the Trails Center to get a firmer understanding of the area’s rich history. Afterward, head into town and walk along what some call the most charming main street in Wyoming. End the day with dinner at the Pump Room.

Day Two
Fuel up for the day with breakfast at women-owned restaurant, Sherrie’s Place. Owned by Sherrie Lopez, Sherrie’s Place has been in business for more than 20 years. Be sure to order a local favorite, one of Sherrie’s famous cinnamon rolls—the recipe comes from her own mother. Spend the rest of the morning exploring Casper Mountain; be sure to take the short hike to Garden Creek Falls. Next up, set out on one of the nation’s most incredible historical highlights, the Oregon Trail. Historic Trails West takes guests out on wagon rides or horseback rides along a route used by hundreds of thousands of pioneers who passed through Casper on their way West. End the day with dinner at one of Casper’s numerous culinary hot spots, like FireRock Steakhouse or Wyoming Ale Works.

Day Three
Start the day with a fly-fishing trip on the blue-ribbon waters of the North Platte River with a local guide. Casper is home to a variety of experiences fishing guides, but if you’re hankering to fish with a female guide, book a trip with Addie Dees with Crazy Rainbow Fly Fishing. Both half-day and full-day trips are available year-round. After a day on the water, end the night with a Casper-created cocktail at Backward Distilling Company. Owned by Amber Pollock and her family, Backwards has a keen focus on utilizing local ingredients for their spirits. End the weekend with a progressive dinner through downtown, with stops that include Gaslight Social, Branding Iron and C85 Wonder Bar.
